T is for Tchaikovsky Museum and Home

T is for the Tchaikovsky Museum and Tchaikovsky's home in Klin, Russia.  I spent a delightful afternoon here seeing the last place that Tchaikovsky called home.  We saw the room where he composed and his piano.  Babushkas made sure we took no pictures.

It was here that he wrote Symphony No. 6.

The Museum:

The Home approached from the gate:

The statue:

I previously posted photos of his tomb in Saint Petersburg.
Below is the Symphony No. 6, Pathetique.

Tolkien Bonus:  I admit that was was not my first choice, but in order to include the character, I had to make an adjustment.  I did the same thing with the next letter, too.

T is for Tharkun, called that by the Dwarves, but also known as Gandalf the Grey by the Hobbits, Mithrandir by the Elves, and during the War of the Ring was called the White Rider.  This scene from the Two Towers also features King Theodun.  You really should read the books.

  1. Tchaikovsky's home was so picture perfect. I wish you'd got a picture of yourself sitting next to him as he read on the bench.

    1. What a wonderful picture that would have been. I rarely show up in a picture as you may have noticed.

  3. I agree with Martha, wonderful post. Nice to see that at least one composer had a decent life while he was still alive. I know that sounds strange to say it that way, but I think you know what I mean! Great videos and I have read all of the LOTRs twice. Lisa, co-host AtoZ 2015, @ http://www.lisabuiecollard.com

    1. I have a son who is very artistic, but he did not follow a career in the arts because he wanted to make money while he was still alive.

  4. this house and museum sound like wonderful places to visit and right up my line of interest. I can't recall ever visiting an attraction dedicated to a composer of classical music.

    1. I've seen the Beethoven 'wrote here' and Mozart 'slept here' but never a museum dedicated to one composer.

  5. His home is beautiful. So many died in poverty or were disliked. Even though he had his own issues, he was beloved from what I can remember. It would be so great to see this. I have been to Mozart's birth home and have seen the small museum there but this looks like it would be even more. I also love this clip you showed of Gandolf

    1. The room where he composed was a museum on its own without the larger building.
