The castle of King Ludwig II, Neuschwanstein, was the inspiration for the first and the site of the second and it was on my 'bucket list' of places to see ever since my first visit to Europe in 1969. I finally made 44 years later on day 19.
The castle is located in Hohenschwangau, in the Bavarian Alps of Germany. I did not walk up the hill but took the tram. Here are my many views, starting the day in the fog and seeing it clear by afternoon. (My first picture of the castle from the Marienbrucke (Marie's Bridge) is a great shot of fog. Just a smudge and fog, lol)
This is not the only castle in the area. There is also Hohenschwangau castle. Imagine having two castles in the same town within shouting distance of each other.
And just to prove I was there.
On my Bucket List: The Netherlands

I've never been. This is on MY bucket list!
ReplyDeleteStopping by from the A to Z Challenge! These pictures are gorgeous. You're actually travelling during this challenge? What a fantastic idea! I love it!
ReplyDeleteNO, I traveled last year and decided that I would use the trip for A to Z. I am not superwoman, but thanks for the thought. lol
DeleteI visited there twice and I keep wanting to go back. I took the tram the 2nd time. I wanted to walk around but I was not able to take in the hiking areas (Joint pain). Your shot of the castle in the mist evokes all the fairy tales of yester year
ReplyDeleteI have only ever seen the pictures. My German visits were all to the coastal towns, well I was on a boat after all.
ReplyDeleteVisiting from A/Z; oh wow with those castles! They must be so impressive to see in person!
