I just took a couple of photos looking out of my back yard.
The first photo is looking into the yard next door and the second is looking into the park behind me. The first time I ever 'saw' the air was in Barcelona in 1969. My friend and I both got respiratory issues that continued even after we left the city.
The smoke from the wildfires in Canada have been descending on us for days, but we now have the second worst air quality in the world, beaten only by Chicago. Tomorrow is supposed to be even worse.
Bad for the forests, bad for our bodies and bad for our climate.
It's just as bad in the Toronto area. These fires are raging all over northern Ontario and Quebec, as well as out west. Frightening!
ReplyDeleteStay indoors.
DeleteWe are rather helpless when facing Nature's whims: fires, floods, hurricanes, earthquakes. They say it's going to be worse. May God help us!
ReplyDeleteI think you are right about it getting worse.
DeleteIt's heading towards my Southern Tier of New York. Last time (three weeks ago now?) Syracuse, NY (70 miles from me) had the worst air in the world for several hours before it moved into NYC. I thought the yellow air we had that time that smelled like rancid campfire was bad enough but I feel like I can see the actual smoke in your photos. And yes, we are helpless, and who knows what after effects we will have. My developmentally disabled brother in law has asthma so we worry for him, too. Our county gave out special N95 masks after the last time so at least we have those now, because I have a dr's appointment tomorrow morning. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI've been coughing all day. A friend called and wanted to know what is wrong with my voice.
DeleteIt's bad here too. My throat is sore and my asthma is acting up. I hope the fires get squelched soon. Some are from lightning but most are from people...sigh.
ReplyDeleteMy voice sounds like Jimmy Durante.
DeleteI can't imagine what it must be like. A reminder to count my blessings.
ReplyDeleteAnd today is worse than yesterday, but at least I do not have to leave my home today for any reason.
DeleteIt's so sad and scary. I've been glued to the news about this wildfire.
ReplyDeleteOMG. That is truly about all I can say. I live at more or less the southern extent of the smoke problem, and these pictures have opened my eyes to the horrors farther toward the middle of the crisis. May we get through this, then finally force the power elites to make the badly needed changes to get past climate crisis long term.
