At the other end of the garden is another show-off -- Sears Tower daylily.
Towering literally above all the other lilies. But you know what? In the plant world, unlike in the human world, I like show-offs.
Though sometimes the 'Golden Years' seem more like tarnished brass, they are not the end of adventure. I invite you to follow me as I enjoy my days as a full-time life observer. I'll cover life, travel, food, gardening, whatever crosses my path.
Wow! I have some Joe Pye Weed, but it's definitely not 7 feet tall. Your Day Lilies are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteNow they have Joe-Pye weed that is much shorter. But this taller one works well in my garden.
DeleteYour show-offs are lovely!
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteThese are beautiful pics and I love your garden! So full!! We were gone for a week and when we came back, the garden looked like a jungle. Our butterfly bushes are just so pretty and they are attracting the butterflies
ReplyDeleteDon't you love coming home to find work to be done?
DeleteI love your flowers. My favorite picture is the one with the umbrella.
ReplyDeleteIt's just too bad that it is too hot and humid to sit out there and enjoy them. Good thing I have lots of windows.
DeleteJoe Pye Weed, what an odd name. Your day lillies are lovely.
ReplyDeleteI've often thought it was an odd name too. Maybe I should Google it.
DeleteTurns out tha Jopi was an Indian healer from New England who used the plant to cure fevers.
DeleteHow typical of us Westerners to turn Jopi to Joe Pye!!! Interesting though. You will be able to cure any fevers you get LOL
DeleteOut of idle curiosity, do you do anything with the lavender? Does it smell really good?
ReplyDeleteI do not grow lavender and do not like the smell, but I know lots of folks who do. Personal preference I guess.
DeleteJoe Pye is a FANTASTIC plant. Yours look great. And I agree that plants can be showoffs, but people not so much.
ReplyDeleteI had Joe Pye in my former garden and he was just to big for my 1/4 acre so he had to go. I may have to add him to my new gardens if I can find a spot big enough for him. He's such a pollinator magnet. Love the Sears Tower daylily. If you have a few minutes, I'd love it if you could stop by my new gardening blog (ginghamgardens.com) and let me know what you think.
ReplyDeleteAs I mentioned above, there is a new cultivar of Joe Pye that does nit get as tall. I'll drop by your blog now.
