All Prepped for A to Z

My understanding of the A to Z Challenge is that you are supposed to blog every day except Sunday as you travel through the alphabet.  Last night I wrote the last of my A to Z posts and wondered if doing it all in advance is somehow cheating.  And then I decided I was just like the kid in high school who works on their homework while in class on Friday so that it doesn't mess up the week-end.  I was never the person doing it on Sunday night.

And so it is with A to Z.  They are written and scheduled for publication.  With that done I will be able to spend time responding to comments, assuming I get them, and reading what others are posting.

The truth is I really don't have time to sit here and write everyday.  If I did you would have heard all about the first three months of my year, including:

1.  The invasion of stink bugs in the family room.  They do no damage and are only looking for shelter from the cold, but ewwww.
2.  The shower door that was damaged when installed in 2010 and just now had problems closing.
3.  The fact that all three toilets needed to be repaired at the same time.  I guess I should be glad it was only one service call.
4.  The mirror that just fell off the closet door and miraculously did not break when it hit the ceramic tile on the floor.  I now have a nice new door.
5.  The two upper respiratory infections, yeast infection on my skin, three mammograms, two ultrasounds, one biopsy - all with negative results in the end, which is just what I said when it started.

And while I am at it, let me comment again on something I blogged about some time ago.  If you read the news online you may have seen a story about the controversy with United Airlines refusing to let some 'pass' customers (those with free passes) board because they were wearing leggings.  I say 'YAY'.

Every Friday I take Charlie to a Mom and Tot class.  The majority of these women wear leggings and frankly I am sick of looking at butt crack.  Why does anyone think this is appropriate??? So, I say 'Thank you' to United.  If that is your policy for employees and their free-loading friends and family, Thanks!

So is writing everything in advance like the Boy Scout motto 'Be Prepared' or is it somehow defeating the purpose of writing everyday?

  1. I say Yay also. I'm sick of it at my work place. Don't even get me started. Haha! I have tried to do the A to Z on a daily basis and found it to be a nagging chore and I ended up not having fun. I think the whole idea is to have fun and find some new blogs to add to my roll. I have XYZ to finish ... the hardest ones, in my opinion.

I have a journal to write in every day. So, if my vote counts, I vote do them ahead! Also, by talking about "scheduling", you just might be helping someone else who doesn't know how to schedule and they'll ask you for help. That's how I learned about scheduling ... through AtoZ!

    Have a super day!

    1. I kept a journal at one time. And then I burned them all. I only want to share so much.

  2. I love leggings, but I always wear them under something that gives me, how shall I put it? "adequate coverage". I'm not going to start policing what other women wear, but clearly we have lost a sense of propriety in the way we as a society dress ourselves.

    1. I have leggings too but always cover my butt with a top. None of these young women at the class cover up. Even worse when I see it in the workplace.

  3. As you know, I'm not doing A to Z this year. I always prepped mine in advance. Much easier on yourself. There is one Sunday you are supposed to post this year Denise, you should check it with the A to Z site. As for the leggings controversy, I couldn't agree more. Why not just walk around nude, we wouldn't see any more of you. OK if people wear them with appropriate tops, but most of these young women don't. Mind you, in Kitchener, it is not against the law to walk around bare chested. Never seen anyone do so, but it is legal.

    1. Yes I am aware of the Sunday. They are all scheduled too. Don't give these young women any ideas. They have enough hanging out already.

  4. Congrats on finishing your A to Z posts, Denise. I'm stuck on "N", still. The A to Z Challenge is supposed to be a social event, so it only makes sense to prepare the entries ahead of time, otherwise, there won't be time for commenting and responding to visitors.

As for leggings, I don't much care what other people wear in their leisure time, but they don't seem appropriate for the office. When I first heard about the United Airlines ban, I misunderstood and thought they were talking about paying passengers. That would surely be overstepping their bounds, in my opinion. If it's their dime, then I will have to (reluctantly) concede they have the right to call the shots about what people can wear.

  5. Of the four years I did A/Z, I pre-wrote all mine before April started and then fine tuned them daily before I posted them. The first year I didn't pre-write and I learned a lesson when the hosts even suggested pre-writing. Good for you getting it done before the challenge starts! You have had an interesting 3 months of some unusual happenings. I too agree about leggings. Those and yoga pants.

    1. My yoga pants are not skin tight, but some women in my class need to buy a larger size.

  6. It's not cheating to write your A to Z posts in advance! I couldn't participate otherwise. And yes, it frees you up for reading and commenting on other blog posts.

As for those leggings....I'm all about rules, and if the rules are that there's a different dress code for those who get to ride free, then that dress code must be adhered to. The story was misrepresented (typical).

    1. I also am a rule follower. And I get irked when I see someone breaking them. Years ago on a flight a young woman used her phone throughout the entire trip, hiding it every time the attendant came by. She was reported, but since the attendant didn't see it she wouldn't or couldn't do anything.

  7. I just wrote about finishing my A-Z as well. I feel liberated. I will enjoy the social part a lot more now. I pretty much write daily...pretty much. I have more than one blog on various subjects.

I love leggings and jeggings. But I wear long tunics over them. No butt crack for me!

  8. I know I read this and thought I responded...my pain and/or memory is getting to me. I think you are doing it the correct way. As for me, I am on the letter H but plan on writing like a demon this weekend

    1. I actually made my list last year before I left on my trip. This may be the last time I participate.

  9. I'm doing A to Z, too, but I haven't written anything yet. I meant to, but life got in the way.

I somehow missed the thing about the leggings, but I loathe them. I may lose it if I'm invited to one more "party" for them or added to one more Facebook group for them.
