  6. Used to love Belgium. Spent a lot of my youth in Ostende - my parents belonged to the yacht club there. I first learned to eat a lobster properly in Ostende too.

    1. It used to be that in the season the cafes would stay open as long as the customers wanted. The Kursaal used to be a great place to go to dance, gamble, have fun. In the harbour area there was a fish market where you could buy the little brown shrimp already peeled and the taste was out of this world. Much better than the pink shrimp most of us are used to. I am talking 50 years ago though.

  8. Ahhh. I miss Belgium. Our favorite town was Brugge. When we lived in Germany, we'd drive to Verviers and then take the train further into the country. Enjoy your trip to the coast!
