Where I Would Love to Shove a Firecracker!

Can we start with the Governor of Michigan?  This complete moron who signs asinine legislation?  Like allowing fireworks to be handled by complete morons on not just the 4th of July but on every fricking holiday there is, PLUS the day before and the day after????

I am so angry right now that I could just shoot someone myself.  I don't own a gun so that is a problem which is why I would like to just shove a firecracker up someone's butt.

One idiot neighbor on my street is shooting them into the street.  I watched a car drive down and they were lucky they didn't get hit with a firework.  Honesty, the windows in my front bedroom are shaking.  The noise outside is incredible.

Two nights ago, when they were not even allowed, I called the Police at 11:10 pm to complain.  The person answering for dispatch told me there were professional shows that night.  I informed here that those shows are usually from dusk to 10:30.  DUH!

Last night I called around 12:15 AM.  Got the same 'well, if we have someone available we'll send them out'.  Are officers driving in their cars deaf?  My neighbor said they were still going off at 2:00 AM.

We have a noise ordinance, but somehow it is not enforceable because the really important a--holes in Lansing decided they need to collect tax revenue on the sale.  If they are making so much money from selling fireworks, why don't they use it to pave the roads?

Sometimes I think this wouldn't bother me so much if I had not previously been in a situation where I was trapped in my hospital lab while a gunman roamed the hospital, eventually killing someone and then barricading himself in the building.  I feel just as trapped in my home as I did then.

Good for the Mayor of Warren for being out on patrol to make sure nothing is being done illegally in his City.  God forbid our local elected leader would do anything constructive in the community.  She is too focused playing her stupid political games pitting folks against one another.  Drama Queen extraordinaire.

Anyway, I am a wreck and I feel sorry for those with PTSD, children, dogs, and anyone with any kind of nervous disorder.  I'd ask what those idiots in Lansing are thinking, but I think they have as many brain cells as the guy who blew his head off last week with a firecracker.

OK.  I've ranted.  There is still more than an hour to go before I can call the Police again, which I am sure I will have to do.  Meanwhile, I will put on my noise-cancelling earphones and try to get some sleep.  And slow my heart rate down.  And wonder if the idiots setting off the fireworks even know what the 4th of July is all about, since some folks I've heard seem to be confusing it with the Civil War.

  1. I really don't think you calling the police is doing anything at all by the sound of it. Whatever the local laws are. Maybe you should arrange to be away on holidays. I do know what you mean and sympathise, but there is no point in getting yourself in such a stew. Does you no good and doesn't affect the fireworks people one bit.

    1. I had considered going away this year. I am now pretty sure I want to visit my son in Texas next year at this time. Despite what everyone thinks about Texas being the wild west, they do not allow fireworks in the city limits or within 5000 ft of the city limits.

    2. BTW, you are right about the police. When I called after midnight the dispatcher wanted to know if I wanted an officer to stop by so I could point out where the noise was coming from. I told him to tell the officer to 'look up' as you could see the fireworks in the sky. DUH. And then someone set off a mortar at 3:00 am that woke me up and shook the entire house.

  2. God bless, you, Denise. It's frustrating when people don't follow the laws and more so when you complain and they are not enforced. Wish your neighbors were people you could go and simply talk to and explain your discomfort and get some kind of an understanding worked out.

    1. Most people who complain to me do not call the police because they say they do nothing. We have a lot of foreigners here who think this is their right now that they live in America. If they think this noise is so great, why did they leave Iraq?

  3. I am pissed about it as you know but I never suffered what you went through in the hospital. I do understand even if I don't know what it feels like. My mom would be very upset because she lived through bombings and I feel she had PTSD. What you go through is ridiculous. I wonder if you can get other neighbours and people together and march up to City Hall and get yourself noticed on TV. I am someone that I would not want to have to leave my own home because these idiots think it swell to pop these things off at 2am. If they do this at 2 am I doubt they will listen to reason. This is one reason why I prefer winter

    1. But if you live in Michigan you can set off fireworks on Christmas, New Year's, Martin Luther King Day, President's Day. It's absolutely ridiculous. Thirty days a year are legal for fireworks.
