A Fragrant Bloom Opens

I had to post this picture of the open bloom of yesterday's Hosta posting.  It is utterly dramatic, large, and oh so fragrant.  This was one of the hostas that was just growing wild in the back wet area of my lot.  (I never need to water back here.)

Seems like the hostas that were transplanted from that area last year are quite interesting.  Most of them were originally planted in the late 70's and left to their own devices as I was being a negligent gardener.  I promise to do better in retirement.

Here it is:

Hosta plantaginea 'Fragrant'

Here is a relative Hosta 'Royal Standard':

And another family member Hosta 'Guacamole':

The scent is wonderful, with fragrant blooms all around the yard.

  1. A wonderful life awaits after retirement! It is the phase in your life where you can sit back and relax while thinking of the accomplishments that you have done in the past. It is when you can enjoy your absolute freedom, a time to relax after long years of hard work. I’m pretty sure that upon your retirement, you can nurture more stunning plants like these, and even get better at it since you have a more time on your hands. Who knows? Maybe you can even establish your own gardening business.
