Though sometimes the 'Golden Years' seem more like tarnished brass, they are not the end of adventure. I invite you to follow me as I enjoy my days as a full-time life observer. I'll cover life, travel, food, gardening, whatever crosses my path.

Evian, France - an A to Z bonus
I realized that I had not covered France as part of my A to Z journey, and not wanting to leave it out, here is a bonus post about Evian-les-Bains. I spent one afternoon and evening here on the shores of Lac Leman, or Lake Geneva as most folks call it. Evian is a commune in the northern part of the Haute-Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region in south-eastern France near the border with Switzerland. We were here primarily to eat a traditional Savoyard dinner.
The restaurant sat high in the mountains and I must admit that the ride up was rather harrowing.
But the meal was lovely, if not exactly Weight Watchers friendly.
The town of Evian was very lovely, too. Especially the parks on the waterfront.
But what I really enjoyed throughout Europe was well thought-out roundabouts. One lane going in, going around, and going out. None of the three lanes back to one lane merging mess we have here in West Bloomfield. You can actually walk across without taking your life in your hands.
Hope you enjoyed this bonus. Viva la France.
