50 Years in the Making

On May 4, 1973 a package was mailed to me from Teaneck, New Jersey.  A brown envelope containing the makings of a wall hanging.  I was ambitious and worked at it diligently, even when I was at home raising my sons beginning in 1977.  In 1980 I finished the center and added the date.  I started grad school in 1985 and I think that is when work ceased.

Fifty years later, I have decided to finish the project.  I am not quite sure what I will do with it when I am done, but wish me luck.  I am more than halfway there.  Thirty minutes a day is my goal.  We'll see how it goes.

  2. This is terrific! Your resolve is inspiring to me, a person who is going to retire in two months after working in federal civil service for 24 years. There must be some unfinished project packed away I can resume. Meanwhile, I hope yours goes just as well as it certainly appears to have gone back in the day.

    1. Good luck with the retirement. I am so glad I quit when I did. At only 62. But I am still here 15 years later and some of my friends had only a couple of years in retirement.

    2. Thanks. I'm glad it's working out well for you. I'll turn 65 next month, then retire the following month. I can't believe I'm the age my Grandpa was when he retired.
