I spent the morning at the Pitti Palace in the Palatine Gallery and afterwards in the Boboli Gardens. I would love to go back to Florence and view all the art again.
The palace dates from the mid-15th century. In 1549 it was bought by the Medici family. In the late 18th century, Napoleon used it as his power base. In 1919 it was donated to the people of Italy by King Victor Emmanuel III. It is the largest museum complex in Florence. The gardens are below.

In the afternoon we took the train to Pisa to see the leaning tower.

I still remember climbing the 300 steps around and around. They were very well-worn. As exciting as it was to see the tower, I also enjoyed the church and the baptistry.

We took the train back to our hotel for another nice dinner.
Expenses today totaled $5.52.
Sounds like a good day!
ReplyDeleteYes, it was!
DeleteIt would be fun to seeing the Leaning Tower in person :)

This is what we meant when we thought you Americans were nuts, you tried to see too much and never stayed anywhere long enough to absorb it. Particularly the atmosphere of the countries you visited.
ReplyDeleteAnd how long do Europeans spend when they come over here to visit?
DeleteThat I can't answer. Not sure people come to the States to "see" it so much as to visit the vacation spots.
DeleteWhat a wonderful day that was. I bet you wished you could have stayed longer!
ReplyDeleteWell, if Shar and I had been independently wealthy, we could have gone for a year. That would have been wonderful!
DeleteFantastic! ♥ Thank you for sharing your trip.
