June 11, 1969 Florence, Italy

We spent the best part of the day in the Uffizi Galleries.  The museum is a 16th century building adjacent to the Piazza della Signoria.   Here is the gallery as seen from the Palazzo Vecchio.

Wikipedia has lots of pictures of additional art works found in the museum.
We also found time to go shopping and I bought more gloves.  They must have been gifts as I only remember having one pair for myself.

With five days in the hotel and gloves I spent $37.37.

    1. Having the Medici family buying up everything surely helped the collection. But the architecture is stunning. No wonder Catherine the Great hired an Italian to design her Russian Palaces.

  2. What a huge museum. Your second pic reminded me of the Galleries des Glaces in Versailles. Some wonderful artwork.

    1. That second pic reminds me of a long hallway in the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg.

  3. Had a wonderful day here in 1983. Spent a lot more than $37.37, but the experience was priceless. Came home with gloves, too, and wore them until they fell apart.

  4. $37.37, wow after 5 days! Amazing! That won't even get one person into some of the attractions here in the Phoenix area like the aquarium, zoo, etc.
