Charlotte's Web - Never read the book. Never saw the movie. I suppose I should at some point.
The Chronicles of Narnia - This is a volume that I own and have read. While many folks have probably read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, there are actually seven fantasy novels. Yes, I guess I do like fantasy.
The Clan of the Cave Bear - While this is the first of Jean Auel's books on life as she imagined it long long ago (25,000 years or so), I have read the entire series of six books. Many of the books are downstairs on the bookshelves, since I am limited up here. They are books that I really enjoyed. I am surprised that they did not include this as a series of books as they did many others.
The Coldest Winter Ever - Not a clue. How about you?
The Color Purple - Heard of it. Never read it. Never saw it. I do know someone who invested money in the play.
The Count of Monte Cristo - This is one of those classics I have never read, nor do I think I will. As I said to someone in my comments, as a science and math major in high school and college, literature classes were not required for graduation.
Crime and Punishment - I've never read this and have never seen any actual film adaptations of it. I have seen Woody Allen's film "Match Point" which was 'loosely based' on the book. I do have it on m Kindle so maybe someday...
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time - So, the title is vaguely familiar. I have no clue what the book is about.
The DaVinci Code - Read it twice. Saw the movie. Own it. And while I really liked it, I enjoyed "Angels and Demons" even more. And of course, Dan Brown inspired me to relive my 1969 adventure in Europe so all's good.
Don Quixote - Another classic I have never read. I never even saw Man of La Mancha though I could probably sing you a few bars...
So, there you have the next ten books. Are you inspired to read any?
Most of these I saw as movies, LOL. I did read the Clan of the Bear series and it was interesting; gosh that was over 30 years ago!

Thanks for reminding me how old I am. LOL
DeleteThis makes me feel like I'm not well-read enough (or even "well-watched" enough if there is such a term)! The Curious Incident is about a boy with autism, I have not read it but have read another by the same author which was good. I have read most of Narnia (5 of the 7?) so that's not bad, I saw a British TV adaptation as a kid and the recent movies. I'm afraid to say I couldn't get past the first few pages of the Da Vinci Code, I found the writing awful. Intrigued to look up The Coldest Winter Ever...
ReplyDeleteI an surprised at some of the choices, but like you I thought I was more well-read. Well, just not these books.
DeleteHi Denise - I should read them all ... the only one I've read is The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time - is such a good read ... team it with https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stuart:_A_Life_Backwards both excellent 'teaching' books about the challenges ... I saw Narnia in a big top in London - excellent avant garde theatre ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteWell, I doubt I can live long enough to read all the books on my list as it is. If folks would just stop writing more books...
DeleteI remember crying while reading Chalott's Web, liked the Curious Incident, DaVinci's Code, Chronicles of Narnia and The Cave of the Clan Bear. Haven't read the others and Jan e no intention.
ReplyDeleteI guess I need to add The Curious Incident. Seems to be a popular read.
DeleteTHE COLOR PURPLE is probably in my top three. It was so moving. And yes, Spielberg worked his magic with the movie. 💜💜💜
ReplyDeleteI read Charlotte's Web as a kid and read it to my kids. It's a fun book. I read Chronicles of Narnia as an adult for the first time to my kids. Great fantasy book, if you like that kind of thing. I read Crime and Punishment in high school and it didn't make a big impression on me. Read the DaVinci Code, it's a very good mystery. And I liked The Color Purple, it's worth reading. Not planning to read any of the others.
ReplyDeleteI read a synopsis of The Color Purple and I think I will pass.
DeleteThe color Puprle has a nice story. i have read it.
