Fun in the Leaves

Summer yesterday, fall today, but summer returns on Tuesday.  Ya gotta love Michigan weather.  And Charlie does.  Friday we were cleaning leaves and he wanted me to lift him up so he could put them back on the trees.  Too cute.  This weekend he helped his parents clean up the leaves at their house.

He is also enjoying his first year of decorating pumpkins.
I don't remember ever doing pumpkins with my sons, most likely because the neighborhood ruffians would smash them if you left them on your porch.

Nowadays, most of the damage is done by the deer.  Mama and her two children have been around here on a regular basis lately and she dares me to chase her out of the yard.  What an attitude she has!

Happy Sunday!

  1. We are doing pumpkins today. Haven't done them in years. Should be an adventure. How fun playing in the leaves.

  2. This is the first year we haven't done pumpkins. I wish I had some to leave out back for the deer to munch on!!

  3. I haven't done pumpkins in years, either - not since the year vandals did ours in. Maybe, if I ever have a grandchild, I wil start once again. Certain things just aren't fun without a child helping you. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com

  4. Makes me nostalgic for when our two boys were little. (Both are taller than I am now.)

  5. We never decorated pumpkins or did anything at this time of year. It may well have changed nowadays. Playing in leaves is fun.

  6. That blue pumpkin is awesome. I didn't have time to carve any pumpkins this year, but I wish I had! Halloween is my favorite season... well, maybe Christmas, now that I can actually decorate my house with lights!

  7. Playing in the leaves in autumn always brings out the child in me :)

  8. Ok that picture of your grandson in the leaves could be in a calendar! I love the blue pumpkin. For the first time I did not hand out candy because I went to see a screening of The Shining and then Freaks which was excellent. It was so great to see these films on the big screen

  9. I don't carve pumpkins as an adult, but I do remember doing that as a child (with help from my parents and brothers, of course). My favorite part was the roasted pumpkin seeds my mother would make for us to snack on... yum!

  10. What a cute little guy! I loved doing pumpkins growing up, but now just enjoy them in the market. I am tempted to get one for decoration -- or two!
