I'm am sure that some of you are glad that I did not go on my usual rant about Daylight Saving Time yesterday. I did go online and sign another petition calling for the end of the practice. I inteneded to leave it at that.
But after watching television with my grandson today, I just had to come here and speak up.
One of the kids' shows has a news segment. So today, the host asked the kids if their parents told them about setting the clocks forward for DST. Then she went on to say that in doing so we get more hours of sunshine in the afternoon...
OK. I am not even going to comment on the facts. I just told my two-year old that she is an idiot and that we still have the same number of hours of sunshine all day no matter where we are or what the clock says. Jeez.
So, my decision to refrain from speaking out lasted all of almost one day - with more sunshine...
My son said to me the other day "I work with people who think the sky is blue because it reflects the blue water in the ocean." Enough said. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteunbelievable!
DeleteNo sunshine here today. I think you did well going an entire day. I rarely make it through a morning without some significantly negative thought.
ReplyDeleteI think we should have a vote on it. Two of our State Legislators have introduced a bill to opt out in Michigan.
DeleteI'd be happy to see it go myself, but so many rely on that extra daylight after work hours to get things done in the yard or to play outdoors. That's the sticky point, not that we get more daylight per day, but that we have more daylight in our free time. Farmers are going to get up with the sun and go to bed with the sun no matter what the clock says.

And your last comment is exactly what a farmer here said in the newspaper.
DeleteOh, you are going to hate my post today! I love daylight savings time! I have to agree with the person who said that with DLS, we get more daylight in the afternoon. Obviously we have the same number of hours of sun, I doubt if that's what she was saying... just that it shifts to later in the day. Maybe you can move to Hawaii or Arizona where they don't change the clocks. :)
ReplyDeleteYou're right, that teacher is an idiot. I wish it would just not change and thank you for saying something again:)
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome, though I heard from others who love it. Go figure.
