And then I thought, 'Where have I heard that phrase before?' Oh, yeah. Muffy Crosswire on 'Arthur'. OMG. I am living my life with phrases from kid's cartoons while ear worms from said shows run around in my head.
For example, I am getting ready in the morning and I am thinking 'If you have to go potty, stop and go right away'. Thank you Daniel Tiger (Who wears pajama bottoms to bed but runs around all day with just a sweater and shoes? Really?)
And the song gets stuck. Like all day every time you use the potty.
And then there are the 'Wiggles'. My grandson loves it but I swear I lose a few I.Q. points every time it is on. But the music stays stuck in my head and I am 'ready, steady, wiggle' all afternoon.
Fortunately, it has been quite some time since I have been sick, but next time I am I know that 'rest is best, rest is best' again thanks to Daniel.
But the skies are now clearing and maybe I won't be so bored. But, it is supposed to rain, AGAIN, later this afternoon. In which case I can watch cartoons online or on my TV from Amazon. Here are Arthur and his friends enjoying a 'boring day'.
Oh my, you must have your grandson around a lot:) I think that would drive me round the bend. I think we are getting the May showers now
ReplyDeleteIt's certainly spent a lot of time raining here. I'm afraid I get bored a lot these days. I worked part time for a while a few years back and miss it now. Trouble is I don't think anyone would hire me now. I haven't played your clips,. I do NOT want to have these earworms you mention.
ReplyDeleteNo ear worms in the Arthur clip. It is rather enjoyable as he spends the day with Grandma. Hits close to home.
DeleteFor me it is "No swiping, Swiper." from Dora the Explorer. Or when I sign in UPS and there are eleven packages, I'm like "Eleven! That is something new! I wish I had eleven, too." From Doctor Seuss, I even have one or two stuck in my head from my own childhood books. "There was once a little girl, who had a little curl, right in the middle of her forehead. When she was good, she was very, very good. But when she was bad, she was horrid." Mother Goose I do believe.
ReplyDeleteI missed the Dora era. But my mother used to tell me that nursery rhyme about the little girl every time I acted up. Which was a lot!
