Road Trip then Home Again

I arrived home from my road trip last night.  I drove 970 miles in my car, leaving the driving on Friday and Saturday to others.  I missed yoga classes and paid for it this morning in class. The trip was a wonderful adventure.

Where did I go?  Down to Springfield, Illinois and then up to Rockford, Illinois, spending a day in Oak Park before heading back home to Michigan.

What did I see?  Oh, so much, which eventually will appear here in separate blogs, but some things to mention are:

a.  Abraham Lincoln's home in Springfield, Illinois, all 3,100 square feet of it including the room for the live-in help.  I also visited the Presidential Museum there.  Turns out that Mr. Lincoln was a VERY successful attorney.

b.  John Dillinger Museum in Hammond, Indiana.  While looking at all the documentation there and seeing a letter written by Dillinger, I wondered what they would put in museums 100 years from now.  Copies of 'tweets'?

c.  Pettit Chapel in Belvidere Cemetery, Illinois, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.  1906

More to come on this trip including a drive down Route 66 and the Japanese Gardens in Rockford, Illinois.
