Is it Finally Spring?

I spent two hours in the garden pulling weeds and cutting down a bush that was over six feet high and about as wide.  I am totally wrecked.  But I had to run out and take a photo of the crabapple I planted two years ago.  Last year it did not bloom, but this year it is putting on a lovely show.  Hard to take a photo as I planted it near the fence.

This tree is replacing an old Snowdrift crabapple that developed heart rot disease.  It was removed last fall.  Here is a pic of its twin from 45 years ago that is still growing in the back yard.  It has just started to open.
And that pine tree on the left is from a seedling my son brought home from first grade in oh, 1985?

Is it truly spring?

    1. You know I spend most of my time at home and I do not mind wearing the mask; it is being told I can't see my family that makes me mad. But I can go to the supermarket. Yikes.

  2. Beautiful spring indeed! I hope you are not near where those 2 dams broke.

    1. No, I am about 120 miles south? Scary though. I live on a branch of the Rouge River and it often floods. I am about nine feet higher than it, but the water table gets higher every year. My yard is a swamp right now.

  3. My two little trees outside my bedroom window are in flower now (see the pic on my blog) and that is a true sign of spring. I was beginning to think it wouldn't flower this year. Your crabapple looks gorgeous. Maybe you should slow down on the gardening. Maybe you should get some help. Forgot to check out the news about the dams. Duuh.

    1. So, I used to have someone who could help me with the gardening, the heavy stuff. When I called him last year because a friend of mine was looking for garden help, he said he had a girlfriend. I have no idea what that has to do with gardening unless she is supporting him. Must be nice, lol.

  4. What beautiful blossom! Spring has well and truly sprung here, and I can't recall a more colourful one.

    1. Mine would be better without rabbit and deer damage. Guess I will have to move the rest of my hostas to the back garden that is protected.

    2. You are so lucky Denise. I am still suffering from them although not as many and I have a friend at bowling who suffers really badly. She has to carry a fan everywhere she goes.

  6. Yes, it's spring. Suddenly we went from a day of snow showers to (apparently) our last frost. It's getting near 80 degrees with low humidity. Enjoyed your blooms. Our native cherry started out with plentiful flower buds, hopeful of tremendous bloom, and then the flowers only looked good for a couple of days. Same thing happened with the crabapple trees on our block. And I tried to help my husband plant tomatoes at our community garden today and messed my back up. Sigh...no way I can get a deep tissue massage, the best thing that helps. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com

    1. Oh what I wouldn't give for a massage right now. Did some more yard work today. Went to the garden center and saw another one of those crabapples and am trying to decide if I want to plant another.
