Reaching the Halfway Mark in the GAR

So, books 31-40
Dona Barbara, Dune, Fifty Shades of Gray, Flowers in the Attic, Foundation, Frankenstein, Ghost, Gilead, The Giver - I haven't read any of these.  My neighbor was interviewed on TV about reading Fifty Shades...

Games of Thrones - I tried.  It was just too wordy.  And I have never watched the series on TV.  I did see a spoof they did on Sesame Street.

I am also aware of Dune, Flowers in the Attic and, of course, Frankenstein.  Never heard of the others.

And now 41-50

The Godfather - Yes, I have read this and seen the movie countless times.  I even had a VHS tape at one time.  My family is from too far north in Italy to have members in the Mafia, but I had a friend whose father was in the Purple Gang in Detroit.  Why does this subject fascinate us so?

Gone Girl - I couldn't finish this.  It failed my 50-page rule.  I thought the movie was even more stupid than the book, but that is just my opinion, okay?

Gone With the Wind - My own true love.  From seeing this in the theatre as a child, to watching it countless times after and reading the book, I love this story.  I have a paperback copy.  My Mother went to see it in 1940 and had a beautiful book with pictures of the cast which she had autographed by Ozzie Nelson.  Another book that I hope my sister at least did not throw out.  My mother would never give it to me no matter how many times I asked.

The Grapes of Wrath - It is on my TBR list.  It has been there for many years.  I'll get to it eventually?

Great Expectations - TBR - It's a long list.

The Great Gatsby - I do not remember ever reading this and am pretty sure I have never seen the entire movie.  It is just not my cup of tea.

Gulliver's Travels - I am aware and have definitely heard some of the tales, but, no, I have never read it.

The Handmaid's Tale - I started this.  It is on my Kindle.  I could not get interested.  I haven't watched it on Hulu either.  Someday?

Harry Potter (series) - Oh my.  I love this series.  Having finished book one I was in Australia and bought book 2.  One morning I woke up early to go pick up my reserved copy of one of the later books to find that my son had gotten up early and picked one up.  It was on my desk.  How sweet.  I have all the videos and re watched them not long ago.  The fact that many of the ideas seem to be borrowed from LOTR does not really bother me anymore.

Hatchet - No clue.  You?   It is a 1987 young-adult so not in my wheelhouse then.  Yah, I know Harry Potter probably wasn't in my wheelhouse either, lol, but I still loved them.

  1. Of 31-40, I read Flowers in the Attic and saw Dune the movie. I really have no interest in reading 50 Shades of Gray. Now from 41-50, I've read 5 of them, maybe 6 because I'm familiar with Hatcher, I'm thinking one of my kids had to read it for school and I would read along with them to make sure they understood concept of books, etc. I didn't read the Harry Potter series but did see a few of the movies. Gone with the Wind is always a classic with me and had read Grapes of Wrath several times in high school.

    1. I think I have seen parts of the movie "Flowers in the Attic". I really must read Grapes of Wrath. I haven't even seen the movie and another blogger featured it today.

  2. I just recently read Gone With the Wind. Now I need to see the movie! I loved the book! I have it in hard back but downloaded it on my Kindle for ease of reading. I have read Flowers in the Attic and that series. Strange story. Loved Grapes of Wrath. Also, just read The Great Gatsby and don't get the pull for that one. And I've never read Harry Potter. Really have no desire!
