June 6, 1969 The Lido, Italy

It rained all day.  Rain in London is expected.  Rain in a city of canals is not.  I wanted sunny days for my photos and still remember the awful gloom I encountered.

We took a vaporetto to the Lido, a sandbar north of the city.  This is a view of the vaporetto dock area.

I did not mention where we had lunch.  Both of us are feeling worse and we went back to the hotel and slept, then had dinner, then went to bed.  This is no way to spend a vacation.

I spent $11.38.

  1. Never fun to be sick while on vacation, but sometimes the best thing to do is what you did, rest up to hopefully feel better soon.

  2. Rain happens, often where you least expect it - like when I was in Dubai a few weeks ago! At least the sun is shining in London today!

    1. Yes, on my second trip to London that year they were having a heat wave.

  3. Not sure why you expect rain in London but not in Venice.

    1. Because you would always hear about rain and fog in London, but pics of Venice always had beautiful sunshine. Now I have learned that if I am visiting someplace the weather will usually be pretty crappy. My husband and I drove the Skyline Drive in Virginia in the fog and saw nothing of the scenery.
