June 3, 1969 Principality of Monaco

This morning we rode the bus from Nice to Monaco.  It is a very lovely Principality as seen here in the harbor.  I gave pictures to some of my relatives and several years ago one of them gave them back to me.  So I scanned them into the computer.
Slides were much cheaper than prints.  I did not make many prints for folks.  Here is one of the slides that I had copied a few years ago and you can see how they deteriorate unless you want to pay an exorbitant sum to restore them:

Our first stop is to see the palace.  I remember taking a picture similar to the one in the link.  Next we went to the Oceanographic Museum.  It was amazing.  And I actually have a picture of me and the museum.
Well, I guess looking at the camera might have been a good idea, too.

Our next stop was the casino at Monte Carlo.

We rode the bus back to Nice and had dinner in our room.  It was a very enjoyable day.

I spent $9.09.  No gambling, lol.

    1. How much do I gamble? I was in Harrah's in Reno and had three quarters. i lost them in the slot machine and I was done. I'd rather bet on the stock market, lol.

  2. I’ve never stopped in Monaco, but have ridden by in a bus, so I recognized the harbor scene and the casino. I imagine you’d have to be dressed up to enter the casino? Not like today, patrons in track suits and sneakers...

    1. I think I mentioned that we only took dresses. I remember that pale blue knit dress I had on in the picture. It had a pleated skirt with a low waist. I cannot remember what kind of shoes I wore, but I am sure it was NOT sneakers.

  3. I did gamble in the casino - think I broke even, don't remember. Know my godfather was in a private room playing baccarat. A rich man. It was a lovely place, we were moored in that harbour of course.

    1. It's a small principality and everything is crammed into one area.

  5. I have a similar picture of Monaco, but with my kids in the foreground sitting on a wall. Did you win at the casino? I didn't!

  6. Too bad about the slides, but at least you still have some photos. We'll be stopping in Monaco for several hours and hope to see as much as possible. Won't be gambling either, though! LOL
