Monet at the DIA

How I spent my Saturday:

Monet painting of dahlias in Argenteuil, above
This is a Renoir painting of Monet painting the picture directly above this one.
Monet's son and wife at home

A DIA Monet long titled 'Gladioli' that has now been retitled 'Rounded Flower Bed' after research on its provenance.

  1. Really pretty. I find his work so soothing, tranquil. I wonder if his personality was like that as well.

  2. This is just beautiful and I would love to see this even though I won’t. I miss going to an art museum

  3. I may not know much about art, but I know I like Monet, especially after having visited Giverny.

  4. Lovely pictures - these artists give much pleasure to the eye. I find some of the modern stuff most uninteresting and wouldn't give it house room even if I could afford it.

    1. Meant to say many years ago I went to the Tate or the National, not sure now, and when we walked in, there was a huge painting hanging about us in the hallway. One half was red and the other half was white. Any housepainter could have done it. Who's conning whom I wonder.

    2. One of my art teachers told me about a painting of a red circle with a dot in the middle that won a first prize in a competition. Go figure.
