West Bloomfield from the Air

I was online at my community's website looking to see if garbage pick-up was delayed.  It was.
I am figuring that if a seven-inch snowfall on a Sunday cannot be handled by Monday, when everything is shut down or cancelled, god forbid it should snow on a weekday.
Anyway, whilst on the site I saw this link to a video produced two years ago.  It is an interesting overview of the community I live in.  While the subdivision I live in is not seen, the hospital where I do my yoga is along with the country club where my middle son works and the high school they all attended.
When you have more than a few minutes, you might want to watch.

  1. I didn't watch the whole thing, but I enjoyed what I did watch. Looks like a great community. I liked the fall colors; we don't see much of that here. Santa Fe, when we lived there, would literally close with even the thought of snow in the forecast; delays for school or even school cancellation. Billings Montana never closed for the weather. I suppose if they did, sometimes the kids would be going to school into July making up snow days.

    1. I was visiting Austin, Texas in December. They had an ice storm and shut down everything, including the freeways.

  2. I called the garbage people. They said it was an official snow day and the garbage would be picked up a day late. I asked how one knows it is a "snow day" and was told by the person on the phone that she gets texts from her city notifying her of such so that must be how I should know. I contacted WB who said they were in the midst of negotiations with this new company who bought the old company and that WB did not have "snow days" for trash collection. Now isn't that all very clear for you?

    1. Typical government gobbledygook. I am curious about what they are negotiating. I also wonder which officials received the $11,009 in campaign contributions, but life is too short to research it.

  3. Made it through five minutes of the video. How did they get rid of all the traffic??

  4. Interesting video. Pretty area...but I know we couldn't afford to live there.

    1. Actually, there is a very wide range of housing options. From small summer cottages to multi-million dollar mansions. I was a little upset that the video totally ignored the northwest corner of the town.

    1. It is very much changed from 1972 when I moved here. Roads are paved and the farms are gone. I long for the old days.

  7. We moved to our community (Johnson City, New York) just in time to see the last farm close, and become a shopping center with a Toys R Us in it. I didn't watch the entire video but was interested to find that someone from New York State first settled your community (yeah, us). We both have lovely fall foliage in our communities, too. Reminded me that it's been perhaps over 35 years since I was last in Michigan and it's past time for me to return. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
