Three Down and One to Go

I am decorating early this year.  Much earlier than I have in the past, which is usually the week before Christmas.  I just decided to get it out there for Charlie to enjoy.  That being said, I obviously have no idea how to do it right since he has moved items around and made sure that I noticed how it is supposed to be done.  Did I mention he is only 2 1/2 years old?

There are four different trees and three of them are up.  To be fair, one tree requires absolutely no work on my part.  Take it out of the box, put a star on top,  and set it on a table.  Done.
And to be even more honest, tree number two gets put away decorated.  It's about 4.5 feet tall, but is easy enough to handle.  So all I need to do is unwrap it and plug in the lights.

Then I have an old wire tree that I purchased at Smith and Hawken many moons ago.  I do not even remember what I used it for when I bought it, but in more recent years many of my Hallmark ornaments have ended up on it.
This all is so easy compared to bringing out the 7.5 foot tree and decorating it.  If I ever were to build another home, I would have a closet where I could roll the decorated tree for the eleven months of the year when it is not being looked at.  These Santas have that look in their eyes that I have when I think of putting the tree up and then taking it down again:

  1. I love your 3 trees so far. I know what you mean about the decorating since it takes me a day or 2 full nights to put the tree up. It is a real tree and I still hang the tinsel up one by one

    1. I had a real tree and every year I was sick. My doctor finally told me it was likely my mold allergy. Got an artificial tree (now on my fourth one) and haven't had a problem since. But I do miss the smell of a real tree.

  2. I joked with hubby that I thought of just putting the artificial tree in the spare bedroom until next year. I won't, but its tempting. The trees look lovely! Step grand daughter decorated our tree this past weekend. Its a bit lopsided on ornaments, but I'm not moving them around, just glad its done :)

    1. This latest tree is narrow and could probably fit in a bedroom corner, BUT it is too tall once on the stand. I have cathedral ceilings in the living areas so height is not a problem. I've always decorated by myself to get it just right, lol. I had another tree just for my boys to decorate years ago.

  3. I love all your trees but especially the second one down, just gorgeous. I’ve put my tree up early this year too. Unfortunately, I have to drag it down out of the loft every year – not an easy job, and I do dread it but can enjoy it now it’s done.

    1. The second one was a gift from my employees one year. There is a Santa face on two sides. It is a cool tree but stating to show its age, just like me.

  4. We put our tree up last Saturday and by the end of it we were both frazzled and bad tempered and my back was killing me. I would love to be able to put the tree away just as it is, but of course not possible. I love your trees and I know you have lots of Santas to display as well

    1. I need to remember to have my son bring it up this week from the basement. I could use a large dumbwaiter too.

  5. We don't put up a tree (really no good place for one in our living room) and I can't say that I miss having one. I like the idea of just unwrapping a small, fully decorated tree each year. I'm all about easy peasy during the holidays.

    1. Once the kids were gone I no longer put up a big tree. But when I found out a baby was on the way, I gave away my huge tree for a much narrower one so I did not have to move more than one chair to make room. My boys were shocked that I went back to putting out decorations. I'm hooked on decorating again.

    2. If we had grandkids, we'd be decorating a lot more too. Nothing like seeing Christmas through a child's eye.

  6. Love it. I especially like your wire tree. When my kids were young and I lived in my other house, I used to decorate every room. I don't have any spaceto do that now, plus what I put up, I will have to take down and I am getting lazy in my old age.

    1. I only drag out about half the decorations each year. It is a lot of work.

  7. We've always talked about wrapping up the tree, decorations and all, and putting it in a corner of the garage. And then I think to myself, how silly, it's only used for a few weeks of the year. I wonder why we have become so crazy about decorating for Christmas. I am thinking about going back to much simpler times. I hate taking it all down the most!

    1. The garage is an idea, but some critter would probably decide to live in it. Lol.

  8. Lovely table top trees! We have 4 of them, all pre-lit and decorated. So much easier with dogs in residence and they still look festive. Thanks for sharing yours.
