One Bloomin' Season - Fall Clean-up Awaits

It hasn't gotten cold enough to change the leaf color around here, but it has gotten colder.  Temps in the 40's in the A.M.  Brrr.  Heat on in the morning inside so Charlie and I don't shiver and jackets on outside.  I am not one to talk about how I love 'brisk' weather.

With the cooler weather, there is less to see in the yard.  Berries are still making an appearance like these on the Andorra junipers:

Or these lovely berries on the Kousa dogwood:

Flowers are few and far between like this lonely blossom on a Michaelmas daisy:

These tall herons will keep vigil until it is time to stow everything for winter.  Welcome to my garden.

  1. I think fall gardens can be so beautiful because of the fall leaves and the how some flowers look. I love the berries-they look like raspberries

    1. Apparently some birds like them but they are pretty hard. I should google them and see if there is any use for them other than being nice to look at.

  2. Are those juniper berries the ones used to flavour gin? I think your garden still looks great but it is the end of the season after all. I don't envy you the clean up although at least you don't have masses of pine trees, we used to spend hours raking up pine straw.

    1. Only one small pine left. All of mine succumbed to wind years ago as they were shallow rooted. As for the berries, this species of juniper does not have usable berries. Supposedly are considered too bitter.
