Nearing the End of One Bloomin' Season

The days are getting shorter.  The air is getting cooler.  The flowers are slowly disappearing.  Here is what is still blooming in my garden.

Roses.  The Knock-out roses are putting on a lovely show.

Sedum Spectabile is in its full glory with heavy flower heads:

This Sedum Album is not my favorite, but I have a lot of it.  It tends to get top-heavy and fall over, but I do love those lime-leaves.

This Limelight Hydrangea is truly lime-colored:

And Quick-fire is getting hot:

This classic Hosta 'Gold Standard' is lovely sitting under those lime flowers above:

Coral Bells 'Color Flash' is changing leaf color and those red stems really stand out:

And I couldn't resist posting another photo of these beautiful Katsura leaves against the blue sky:

There is a lot of clean-up, which I have already started.  I think my transplanting is done for this fall, but I do need to find a spot for a rose that has been growing in a pot.  Where oh where?

Thanks for visiting.

  1. Your garden is just full of wonder and beauty. I love that 2nd rose colour-so unique and the bright red one just pops! We bought a butterfly bush and we are seeing butterflies even today.

    1. Than ks. My butterfly bushes always die but I just found out they do not like heavy wet soil, which is what I have.

  2. Beautiful blooms. A hosta undestroyed by slugs - ah, a treasure. Fall is surely on its way. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com

    1. I have a wet lot and am very surprised that I do not have more slug damage this year. Some years have been awful. Maybe they all froze during our arctic winter.

    1. Thank you for stopping by. I have planned a tour to Belgium for next May. It has been on my 'bucket list' for a long time. I will definitely check out your blog.

  5. Not sure how I missed this post Denise except I have been remiss all round my blogs lately. I love the roses, they are so beautiful. At least they last longer on the bush than if they are in a vase. I cannot imagine where you would put another rose. Did you decide yet?

    1. I think I am going to put it in the ground right where the pot is now sitting. If I can dig a hole around the tree roots, that is.

  6. Lovely, lovely garden of Eden. One could truly get lost in the heady fragrance and eye candy of it all. You've done such a spectacular job with the chunk of earth assigned to you. I hope you can hear my applauding from your side of the screen.
September is one of my favorite times of year for two reasons - my huge deep blood red mums pop out and fill the garden with no aide from me and the beauty berries are spilling out everywhere. Magical.

    1. I envy you and your mums. I have absolutely no luck with keeping them from year to year. Hope to post berry pics tomorrow.

  7. All lovely. I'm particularly glad you gave us a pic of those katsura! How pretty, like paper hearts fluttering up into the sky. You have a very diverse and beautiful garden!
