One Bloomin' Season - Week Three

Taking pictures today is a challenge.  It's cold, windy and rainy.  Fortunately, I have older pictures in files I can use or I can stand in the doorway and 'zoom'.  As expected, the rain came just in time to knock over the irises, though I had photographed them during the week.

Iris 'Cup Race'
Iris 'Silence'
Pink flowering Ninebark and purple Dutch iris
The first daylily flower 'Stella de Oro'
This peony is a division off a plant my mother gave me 40+ years ago.  IOW, 'free'.
Oh, how I love my wisteria!  It reminds me of Giverney, France, and my trip to Monet's home.

Chives.  Removing all the blooms this week before they go to seed.  I have WAY too many.
Flowers on my newest ninebark plant.
Mock Orange - I cut this to the ground two years ago and created a Monster!
Red-twig Dogwood

High bush cranberry viburnum

The North garden entrance with peonies waiting for summer.  Me too!

And that's all for now.

  1. All I can say is beautiful! You have a green thumb. The picture with the purple Dutch iris is my favourite followed by the wisteria. I love wisteria so much but heard they can be difficult to maintain. They can look great and then suddenly die on you. Is that true??

    1. I've always herd that wisteria are temperamental. This new variety 'Amethyst Falls' has smaller flowers and has survived two bad winters and is growing like crazy.

  2. I thought you were having problems with the deer. Your flowers are beautiful. The West Bloomfield deer ate all my flowers until I bought Liquid Fence Deer and Rabbit repellent. It works very well fyi. I get it at home depot. Also, my flowers are nowhere near this far along. Some plants have closed buds, but nothing opened.

    1. The back yard is now completely fenced and with trees and shrubs it is not easy for them to jump. The front has been sprayed twice already and I planted a flat of rosemary, which they hate the smell of. We'll see what happens when the daylilies in front open up.

  3. I assume you know you can eat chive flowers? I used them in salads, make it very pretty. Love all your flowers, never had a green thumb so I can appreciate it when I see the results you achieve. Beautiful flowers.

    1. I've never eaten chive flowers, but it makes sense that you can eat them. I'll have to try it.
