X is for Kha in the Cyrillic Alphabet

Finding a city or location starting with the letter 'X' is not easy.  In fact, it was impossible for this trip.  The next best thing I could do was use the Cyrillic alphabet.  The Cyrillic alphabet combines Greek and Latin letters.  I still can't keep it straight.  The letter Kha is the same as the Greek chi, or 'X'.

If you are interested in learning the alphabet, you can check out some info here.  When you have mastered the alphabet, you can order at Starbucks:

Tolkien Bonus:  X is for eXiles.  This includes both the Noldor who were banished from Middle-Earth in the First Age and the Dunedain who came to Middle-Earth after the fall of Numenor.

  1. This is a sweet way to get out of a tricky situation. So did you get what you wanted to order at Starbucks?

    1. I do not care for their coffee but my friend did get what she wanted. Everyone spoke English and the place was packed. Same thing happened in Helsinki.

  5. A student asked me yesterday if I could read Cyrillic. I can do it very slowly, but that doesn't mean I understand what I'm reading :D

    1. I remember the letters for a short time and then seem to immediately forget them. I could work out restaurant names when I was there.

  6. Very clever! I don't want to order a coffee at Starbucks, but the idea of learning the Cyrillic alphabet is pretty intriguing.

  7. Never been in a Starbucks so no use to me. I know a bit of the cyrillic alphabet as there are similarities with the Greek alphabet which I used to know very well. Lapsed somewhat these days.

    1. Considering that I had to learn the Greek alphabet when I pledged a sorority, you would think I could remember at least some of the Cyrillic letters. NOT.
