A Sunday Book Recommendation

Yesterday I had one of my 'sitting in my jammies reading a good book day'.  The wind chill was well below zero and I could find no compelling reason to leave the comfort of my home.  I even opted out of yoga class along with other attendees.

The book I read was David Baldacci's 'The Escape'.  It features the character John Puller of the U.S. Army Criminal Investigative Division.  But though I thoroughly enjoyed it, that is not the book I am here to recommend.

That book is Anthony Doerr's 'All the Light We Cannot See'.  I read this book last summer after my cousin recommended it to me.  The book takes place in France during World War II.

I know that some folks will not like this book.  A friend said she just couldn't get into it.  But I found the story very moving and thought it was beautifully written.  This morning I noticed that it had reached the top of the best-sellers list.

The days of winter are short and cold, so for me, it is a great time to stay indoors and read.

  1. Don't think I would enjoy it. Too close to home. After all I lived through the war years in the UK. Matt is interested in that period so maybe he would like it though.

  2. Isn't it wonderful to take advantage of these days to just curl up and read a great book? Many people don't do that now and they miss out. Glad you enjoyed your day and the book
