A to Z Challenge Eve

It begins tomorrow.  As promised, I will be sharing my pictures from last year's European adventure.  It will be mostly pictures with not a lot of commentary.  I am sure you can find plenty to read about if you visit the other 1700+ sites signed up for the challenge.

I have had fun reliving the adventure as I have previously noted.  I am surprised at how much time I have spent getting the posts together.  But I am always looking for places to visit and have a long 'bucket list' of destinations.

So, at the end of each post, I am going to list a place I have never been, going in A to Z order.  I have tried to find countries to use, but occasionally have had to pick a city.  Someone besides China should consider using X, Y, or Z for city names.

If you are wondering why I might not have picked a more popular destination, it is likely because I have already been there.

I decided to embark upon this when I realized that the first place I ever wanted to see was in India.  My father was stationed in Bombay and Burma when he was in the army during World War II.  I still remember seeing his picture of the Taj Mahal and always said I wanted to go.  BBC's Top Gear just had a special on a drive across Burma to Thailand.   I started thinking about my father's stories and realized that I still haven't made the trip to that part of the world.

But then I Googled a list of countries by alphabetical order and with almost 300 to choose from, I realized that I had not been lots of places.

So, I am posting my bucket list.  Unless I do a lot of traveling in the next twelve months, I don't think A to Z will be about any of these places next year.  A picture is worth a thousand words, and alas, I have no pictures of places yet to see.

If you have traveled to any of the places on the list, let me know what you did or didn't enjoy about it.

  1. As a youngster I wanted to go to a city in every country of the world. I was told I basically couldn't do it. At this stage of my life, I certainly haven't even nearly achieved it.
